Robyn Scott was born in Southern California, where she picked up her first pink crayon at age 3 and never looked back. She made North Carolina her home in 2015 based on many joyful childhood memories of visiting the beaches of Duck, NC. After living in and exploring the city and natural landscapes of Wilmington and Corolla, she settled in Durham, NC where she paints with acrylic and glitter on canvas in her breakfast nook. Robyn loves exploring how paint can express joy, imagination, and the beauty of natural spaces while working with bright color palettes that amplify the radiant hues of the Carolinas. Her work has been shown at Duke Arts & Health Gallery in Durham, Imperial Centre for Arts & Science in Rocky Mount, The Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex, Artmosphere in Clayton, and the Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, among others. She has a piece included in the permanent City of Raleigh Municipal collection. Robyn also has a BA in Studio Arts from UC, Irvine in CA and a MA in Fine Arts from Winchester School of Art in England. Color and texture drive my work. Many other artists have inspired me, including Monet, Outsiders, Matisse, and Jacob Lawrence, to name a few. Since move to a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, I am more inspired by nature- the beach, harbors, vegetation and animals- than ever before. Currently, my work may be viewed and purchased at The Duck Gallery in Duck, NC, Dare County Arts Council in Manteo, NC, and the Chowan Arts Council in Edenton, NC.
